UGN, a world class manufacturer of acoustic, interior trim, and thermal management products for the Japanese transplant automotive industry in North America, is seeking a Director of Information Systems to join our team in Tinley Park, Illinois.
The Director of Information Systems (IS) oversees the streamlined operation of the Information Systems Department and ensures alignment with the business objectives of the organization. The Director of Information Systems plans, coordinates, directs and designs all operational activities of the IS department; as well as provide direction and support for IS solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. The Director of IS works closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective and value added technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
UGN’s ideal candidate will provide overall strategic and operational direction to UGN’s information technology infrastructure by working closely with the Leadership Team to develop and implement long-range strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership, strategic mindset, relationship management, and analytical skills will assist the successful candidate in the analysis of innovative technologies leading to new or improved systems by working directly with UGN leadership.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Formulate and deploy long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and cost-effective information systems and communication technologies.
Manage IS department operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
Manage business information systems development to ensure UGN leaders have ready access to all critical manufacturing and overall business metrics.
Demonstrated ability to strategize, plan and successfully lead the conversion and implementation of a virtual environment from a physical environment, using virtual and cloud technologies.
Manage EDI at a top level to ensure consistency of EDI standards and customer support.
Ensure all aspects of UGN systems, be it ERP, database or otherwise maintain 99.9% uptime, well at the same time deliver services and data in a timely and effective manner.
Knowledge and understanding of both the Infrastructure and Information System side of the business.
Will be responsible for taking the lead on defining and launching UGN’s next generation ERP system. Systems currently under review our Plex, SAP, Oracle and Microsoft Dynamics.
Where necessary, re-engineer applications support to ensure it aligns with business processes / needs, tactical planning and strategic vision.
Lead and support IT system administrators to devise the IT framework, technology procedures and practices of UGN that support UGN’s growing and changing needs. Support and further develop the policies and structures for managing the underlying IT infrastructure including PC’s, servers, Internet connectivity, network, MPLS and telecommunications systems to ensure maximum user availability while, at the same time, delivering maximum performance.
Define and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to CFO, department leads, support staff, and end users as needed
Develop and review budgets for the IS department divisions and ensure they comply with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives.
Review performance of IS systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
Analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvements to IS infrastructure and IS systems.
Develop bid requirements for all hardware and software upgrades, review submitted bids for compliance with stated requirements, and execute the appropriate award.
Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all hardware and software based on department needs.
Develop business cases justifications for IS spending and initiatives.
Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts.
Develop and implement all IS policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing and service provision.
Oversee negotiation and administration of vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communication with the organization’s executives, department heads and end-users regarding pertinent IS activities.
Promote an environment of cooperation and respect among UGN Team Members.
Champion open communication.
Implement best practices to foster UGN’s growth and continued viability.
Contribute to corporate strategic planning to define and implement corporate vision and strategy.
Participate in budget planning activities and develop, monitor, manage and achieve annual departmental budget expectations.
The successful candidate will be a proven leader who can easily multi-task and make solid decisions when faced with challenges and critical milestones. The Directod of Information Systems is responsible for successful completion of annual business goals related to the IT functions. Regular attendance and punctuality are required.
This position directly supervises managers of Information Systems and Business Administration Systems Department. The Director of IS Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) from accredited four-year college or university; and ten to fifteen years progressive management experience in information systems.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,
percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
To perform this job successfully an individual should have technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems, hardware, telecommunication and data communication protocols and standards, including knowledge of storage area networks, .Net, SQL, HTML, mainframe, LAN, and WAN architectures.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Certification in Microsoft (MCSE, MCITP, MCST) or Novell (CNE), and/or Cisco.
Valid driver’s license and U.S. passport required.
