Job Description: Report LIVE from the newsroom for 2.5 hour morning show five days a week and report for remainder of shift. Need a reporter/anchor who can carry on a conversation with the viewer, find urgency in stories, and engage the audience. Needs to be a great storyteller, must have engaging live skills, experienced at handling breaking news. Must be able to edit copy, mentor young journalists, and foster innovation. Must present a professional appearance.
Responsibilities: Job Responsibilities:
Come prepared for show and editorial meetings with developed lead story ideas
Engage viewers as reporter/anchor of 2.5 hour morning show
Write and edit accurate, concise, compelling copy
Review reporter copy for accuracy, conversational writing, and clarity
Communicate with assignment desk about story assignments
Communicate with reporters and photographers about story development
Develop contacts in order to break stories
Post to the web, mobile and social media using station guidelines
Produce special reports
Set up personal story files
Keep track of follow-up opportunities
Respond to breaking news and live shot opportunities
Mentor young reporters
Participate in community events as station representative
Requirements: Qualifications Requirements:
Must be a go to person in current newsroom
Morning show experience preferred
Working knowledge of ENPS a plus
Adobe Premier Non linear editing experience a plus
Live shot expertise
Education: Education:
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
Experience: Experience Requirements:
Two years reporting and anchoring experience preferred
