Reviews rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from Design Engineers, Engineering Technicians, Sales Engineers and/or Project Engineers. Can easily transfer thought processes and sketches into CAD documentation. Drafts detailed drawings of all necessary elements of a required design including but not limited to assemblies, sub-assemblies, weldments, sheet metal flat patterns, machined parts, and installation drawings. Develops detailed Bills of Materials and Parts Lists. Selects purchased components for new equipment designs. Works in cooperation with Sales Engineers, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Development Technician, external customers, and vendors as required. Participates in design reviews prior to release of drawings to manufacturing. Works closely with production to assure manufacturability of a design. Works with infrequent supervision of the Engineering Supervisor/Manager or Project Engineer. Must recognize areas of technical requirements that need the advice and/or attention of qualified personnel.
Associate's degree (A. A.) in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent from two-year College, a minimum of two years CAD drafting experience (solid working experience with AutoCAD and Solid-Works or Pro-E; familiar with common software (Microsoft Programs) and ability to learn specialized computer programs) and a minimum of two years of related machine design experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in designing food processing and material handling equipment would be a bonus. NOTE: The CAD usage will be AutoCAD and Solid-Works.
