The general laborer performs general shop labor duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for the integration of CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, including: commitment to integrity, knowledge/quality of work, supporting financial goals of the company, initiative/motivation, cooperation/relationships, problem analysis/discretion, accomplishing goals through organization, positive oral/written communication skills, leadership abilities, commitment to Affirmative Action, reliability/dependability, flexibility and ownership/accountability of actions taken.
Assemble mechanical components of all types of products from engineering drawings. Clean, polish, and if necessary, re-grind stainless steel. Identify errors on prints, communicating all errors to foreman or leadman for correction. Train new employees in the department. Identify and report potential safety hazards. Maintain the highest levels of productivity and quality. Use initiative to continuously seek additional work. Perform the duties to the foreman when called upon. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Adhere to all company specified safety, housekeeping, and work standards.
Paint or powder-coat all types of components. Ensure proper settings for paint line speed and oven temperature. Clean and maintain paint equipment. May be using heavy equipment and could be working indoors/outdoors or onsite/offsite. Assist with setup of machines, and operations of fabrication.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and Supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.
High school graduate or GED and demonstrated knowledge of shop math. Demonstrated ability to read and understand engineering drawings. Knowledgeable of all purchased and manufactured parts and their applications. Able to read wiring diagrams. Read a tape measure to 1/32” and do shop math. Able to use hand tools, as well as use and maintain air tools. Able to use calipers. Instruct others in these skills. Successfully performed as an Assemble C and B (or have equivalent experience) for a minimum of 2 years.
