The Contract Manager (CM) is a key position responsible for global alliance strategy in support of Enterprise Solutions Sourcing. He/She champions, develops, manages, and drives key sourcing relationships that are critical to Verizon's emerging global Enterprise Solutions business and that impact entire enterprise customer base with a particular focus on negotiations, and terms and conditions supporting global agreements.

Primary responsibilities:
Leads cross functional sourcing teams associated with the product and service selection processes for equipment, services, solutions, financing, and non-standard complex solutions

Reviews and negotiates project specific Master Services Agreements (MSA) and Statements of Work (SOW)

Negotiates terms and conditions in master supplier contracts for complex, multi-year, multi-million dollar alliance partner agreements and assists large customer facing deal teams in translating supplier capabilities to customer facing contacts in order to align customer and supplier contracts during the bid process

Responsible for obtaining total Verizon wide requirements, maximizing marketplace leverage, determining competitive alternatives and prioritizing business objectives for cross functional teams

Advises a team composed of senior level/executive level management of the Verizon Enterprise Solutions end user organizations

Negotiates directly with alliance partners at the senior management level

Acts as an advisor and or expert to subordinates/less experienced staff for elevated issues and problems

Day to day work requires significant interpretation on diverse issues often with limited direct management support

The successful incumbent is responsible for contract development and management of all contractual documents, working in partnership with the Sourcing Process Leaders (SPLs), Suppliers, internal Business and Legal Departments. The CM acts as an advisor and or expert to subordinates/less experienced staff for elevated issues and problems. Day to day work of the CM requires significant interpretation on diverse issues often with limited direct management support. The CM also works closely with Internal Audit and Supplier's auditors to resolve contract compliance issues.

In addition, the CM is responsible for other functions as follows:

Accelerate the development of contracts, amendments, and SOWs

Draft, revise and edit contractual documents

Maintenance of Supplier contracts and SOWs

Monitoring of contract renewals and other key contract milestones

Contract compliance issue resolution

Identification and coordination of project issue resolution

Contract Development:
Responsible for development of contractual documents

As a part of the Verizon negotiating team, provide leadership in drafting and negotiating terms & conditions with Suppliers

In accordance with Verizon's priorities, review Supplier requests for changes to contract, assess risk of implementing changes, and recommend Verizon's response

Secure Legal approval (as required) of response and negotiate resolution with Supplier

Identify and assist issue review with Verizon subject matter experts

Contract Management:
Review contract modifications received from Verizon clients or Suppliers

Provide points of view on the implications and next steps regarding contract changes

Monitor contract status and report on upcoming contract renewals or expirations

Partner with the SPLs to renew and revise contracts with Suppliers as needed

Monitor other key contract milestones and provide SPLs with updates and recommended contract actions

Provide assistance to SPLs and internal Verizon clients in understanding contractual documents and their terms with Suppliers and Verizon's entitlements

Contract Compliance:
Sourcing lead person for internal and Supplier audits involving contract compliance

Assist with Contract Approval Sheet drafting and execution

Ensure new Verizon standard language, including new terms and conditions, is added to all contracts

Resolve disputes with Suppliers involving Verizon's agreements

Review and interpret Sourcing and Corporate Policy requirements

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

Minimum of 6 years related experience in contract management or sourcing position

Demonstrated experience negotiating & managing agreements with significant annual spend

Strong interpersonal and client service skills

Self starter with ability to work independently

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong issue resolution and negotiation skills

Strong project management skills

Desired Skills & Experience

Certifications from the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) desired

Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM)

Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM)

Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM)
