Oyster.com, the Hotel Tell-All, is expanding and we are looking for an engineering manager to lead our growing team of six engineers.
Financed by Bain Capital Ventures and Scripps Networks Interactive (parent company of Food Network, Travel Channel and HGTV) and led by an accomplished and experienced management team, Oyster.com is dedicated to providing the most comprehensive and objective hotel information combined with a world class shopping experience. Formed in March 2008, Oyster.com management includes Microsoft alumnus Eytan Seidman, formerly Director of Core Relevance on Live Search (now Bing.com) -- and two highly accomplished serial entrepreneurs, Ariel Charytan and Elie Seidman. Our engineering team includes members who architected and scaled Microsoft's search engine between 2003 and late 2007.
The engineers at Oyster develop and maintain the web services that power http://www.oyster.com/ . Responsibilities will range from scaling our internal systems that manage content to writing a mobile app that takes advantage of the millions of high resolution hotel photos in our data store. You will need an eye for customer friendly design along with the skill to build services that stand up to millions of pageviews and users.
Our technology stack contains custom tools, open source projects, and commercial software. You will work with Python, PostgreSQL, Nginx, Windows, CentOS, C++ and more. Manage complex technical projects and a team of software engineers
Willing to roll up your sleeves and code alongside other engineers
Provide coaching and mentoring to new developers
Participate in hiring new developers
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
7+ years of professional software development experience, with a preference towards web development
No requirement for language experience. We largely use Python and C++.
Experience with relational databases a plus
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
