Job Description and Responsibilities:
The candidate will own the design from conception through specifications, design, validation to releasing of documentation all geared towards Entropic IC’s. The HW designs range from Engineering development/bring-up, marketing reference designs to turn-key high volume customer specific boards.
The candidate will take a lead role and represent the board HW aspects of the project. For larger projects which have multiple HW engineers assigned, this person will take the lead and manage other lower level engineers in several sites.
The candidate will assist with bring-up and debug of newly designed Entropic IC designs, which entails being part of a larger group consisting of IC designers, operations, applications and marketing, and will be considered the HW expert of the team. Strong debugging skills as well as in-depth knowledge of communication systems is required. Experience in the training and mentoring of lower level engineer and interns is a must.
Ability to use the following equipment
- Education: BSEE required, MSEE preferred (or equivalent)
- Digital Communications (higher order modulations, system flow and trade-offs)
- Analog/RF Circuitry (filters, amplifiers, S-parameters, RF specifications and trade-offs etc…)
High Speed Digital Circuitry (processors, E-net switches, timing analysis, DDR, PCIe, SerDes etc…)
- Ability to competently use the following:
- Orcad Schematic Capture
- Microsoft Office tools (Project, Excel, word etc…)
- Linux, Unix, Windows, DOS
- PADS (mainly for layout reviewing purposes)
- Design/debug knowledge:
- Digital design including processor, memory, peripheral circuitry selection
- Ability to measure S-parameters
- Ability to impedance match RF circuitry (up to 3.5GHz)
- Analysis of digitally captured waveforms in order to debug system issues.
