This incumbent performs weight analysis of aircraft and aircraft interior designs. Writing reports and conducts testing to show compliance to the weight requirements. Analysis work will entail both interiors and primary aircraft structure. Classical hand, computer, and CAD analytical methods will be used.
Performs standard engineering assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project. Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations. Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment.
Directs preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects. Develops weight management plans for a variety of projects including specific requirements for weight analysis, weight testing and/or comparison to existing analysis.
Coordinates with engineering, manufacturing and certification groups as well as the customer and regulatory agencies during the extent of a program. Provides technical leadership to a small group of temporarily assigned engineers and technicians.
Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints. Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from four-year college or university; and minimum three years related experience and/or training.
- Require experience with Catia V5 or Unigraphics, and experience with Team Center or equivalent PDM.
- Experience with aircraft lavatory or galley product design is preferable.
