POSITION PURPOSE: This position requires planning and management of all technical and operational activities associated with database administration function. The individual needs to be fully hands on and be able to independently responsible for the definition, creation, maintenance, performance tuning, capacity planning, problem resolution and software upgrade of the relational database management systems within the computing environments. The individual will need to provide coordination between user, technical, application, and corporate entities to ensure effective database management. Has a willingness to work with customers of various levels of technical expertise. Above all the individual ensures solutions meet business objectives and establishes and maintains a high level of user trust and confidence in knowledge of and concern for users' business needs. Will participate and/or lead large complex projects utilizing RDBMS technologies and will demonstrate a high level of technical lead competency.

o Must be able to ensure the operational reliability, integrity and performance of all production databases.

o Performs back-up and recovery of existing databases along with performance monitoring and tuning.

o Performs database installations and upgrades and insures the security of confidential data.

o Must be able to trouble shoot operational issues and implement solutions along with periodic maintenances, fixes and patches of databases.

o Must be able to assist users in writing complex queries and reports. Perform analysis of business needs, write reporting requirements and turn requirements into delivered solutions

o Analyze and resolve problem tickets relating to DB2, mySQL, MSSQL and Oracle.

o Monitor and report on the Performance and Uptime.

o Provide support to Users.

o Participate in Logical and Physical Design of databases.

o Perform all functions/tasks according to processes and procedures.

o Participate in projects relating to team functions

o Adhere to internal Administrative processes.

o Client focused

o Must have knowledge of DB2, MySQL, MSSQL, and Oracle.

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills

o Ability to independently research problems and provide solutions

o Will be required to provide weekend/off-hours support

o Technical documentation skills

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and Skills Required: o Has sufficient depth and breadth of technical knowledge to be individually responsible for the scope of deliverables within a field of expertise. o Possesses advanced level of business, technical, or functional knowledge. o Has ability to perform/drive resolution of problems on combinations and interactions of products. Ability to apply technology and consulting to solve a client business problem. o Able to communicate and present complex issues with assurance and confidence. Demonstrates the use of consulting skills including: questioning, listening, ideas development, permission and rapport, and influencing. o Ability to conduct/lead oral status/technical interchange meetings with clients on small to medium sized engagements. o Owns and produces customer documentation. Ability to translate technical details into concise and easy to understand written form o Able to discuss (within own area of expertise) requirements with a customer, and to challenge and clarify when appropriate. Able to develop a high level design or plan, and then estimate the amount of effort required to deliver. Able to advise the engagement owner about the risks associated with this work package. EDUCATION: 5+ years of professional experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study; without a degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (8+ years in total)
