      Plan, manage and execute the acquisition of Raw Material, Work in Progress (WIP), and Finished Goods for assigned Products in support of the Master Plan and customer requirements. Manage and accountable for Inventory investment of assigned items. Generate, c ompile and maintain complete, up-to-date total demand forecasts that reflect the business plan and provide analysis of demand trends and forecast trends for target products.

      PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
      ·


      Plan, manage and execute the acquisition of Raw Material, WIP, and Finished Goods for assigned Products in support of the Master Plan and customer requirements including the following: o

      Originate and place purchase orders (PO’s), communicate with Suppliers and manage Supplier delivery dates. o

      Utilize SAP/MRP computer system and maintain appropriate inventory. o

      Troubleshoot problems and questions regarding purchases, suppliers, etc. and recommend solutions and resolve problems. o

      Work with suppliers negotiating and resolving schedules, inventory levels, shortages and other material issues. o

      Manage non-conforming material reports, NCR, and corrective action programs with suppliers. o

      Understand LOB purchasing needs and inventory; enhance buying decisions and buying process based on those needs o

      Develop and implement strategies to leverage the optimum prices and delivery schedules. Negotiate lead times and price as needed. o

      Develop, grow and maintain good relationships with external suppliers.

      Establish and manage inventory investment to agreed goals. This may include raw material, work in process, semi-finished and finished goods.

      Generate, c ompile and maintain complete, up-to-date total demand forecasts that reflect the business plan and provide analysis of demand trends and forecast trends for target products which includes the following: o
      Forecast inventory investments through analysis of consumption and planned purchases. o
      Manage the S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) process to assure finance, marketing, sales, distribution & manufacturing concurrence with the plan. Identify and highlight business risks. Work with both internal and external resources to continue to develop and improve the S&OP process. o
      Analyze sales data and inventory levels by product to define and administer purchasing plans, internal build plans and inventory management of all purchased components, subassemblies and finished goods. o
      Perform “Make vs. Buy” analysis of various materials to ensure IDEXX highest financial return. o
      Publish monthly forecasts, exceptions and historical data to the appropriate product managers. o
      Identify forecast accuracy improvement initiatives.

      Coordinate with all internal departments and personnel to achieve the master plan as well as changes to the plans. Partner with sales and marketing keeping abreast of market conditions, sales promotions and other marketing initiatives that affect the master schedule.

      Participate on new product introduction teams to ensure the smooth transition from concept phase to manufacturing.
      ·
      Participate on / manage projects associated with product cost reductions, process improvements, product improvements and new product introduction.
      ·
      Support the development, documentation, training and implementation of new system enhancements, performance standards, and reporting formats.
      ·
      Understand and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements .
      ·
      Adhere to all appropriate ISO 9000 quality standards and work instructions.
      ·
      Develop and continually learn, grow and strengthen individual capabilities, staying current with best practices.
      ·
      May train, mentor and coach others and/or direct work of others.
      ·
      Perform other duties as assigned.
      Qualifications
      EDUCATION :
      ·
      Bachelors degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

      EXPERIENCE :
      ·
      This is an entry level position requiring a basic level of responsibility, proficiency and skills.
      ·

      ·

      Works under close to moderate supervision, taking direction from senior peers and management.

      Typically 2-4+ years experience in a related field or function

      REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
      ·


      Theoretical and practical knowledge of sales forecasting, demand planning and manufacturing capacity management.
      ·
      Must possess a strong background in MRP II, planning, sourcing, negotiating, supplier management programs, inventory level control, and the ability to assess supplier capability.
      ·
      Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
      ·
      Ability to effectively communicate and/or present information and respond to questions from technical groups and management within IDEXX and supplier companies.
      ·
      Demonstrated ability to negotiate with and facilitate cross-functional teams involving multiple competing tasks and goals
      ·
      Strong analytical, problem solving, attention to detail and troubleshooting skills
      ·
      Ability to analyze data in order to summarize and recommend action plans/strategies
      ·
      Ability to work independently and as part of a team
      ·
      Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
      ·
      Solid working knowledge of SAP/MRP system and scheduling concepts
      ·
      Knowledge of GMP or ISO 9000 requirements recommended.

      Normal office and warehouse environments
      ·
      Visits to Laboratories with exposure to biohazard material, chemicals, instrumentation, fumes, airborne particles and/or toxic or caustic chemicals. Personal protective equipment and/or clothing required.
