Valdosta State University’s Department of Modern and Classical Languages is now accepting applications for Assistant Professor of French or Spanish. This is a ten-month, tenure-track position beginning August 1, 2013. Position will be responsible for teaching language courses from beginning through advanced levels and methodology courses for second language teaching, and supervising field experience of foreign language education majors, including student teaching and internships.
Candidates should be ABD with M.A. in hand to apply; PhD in Foreign Language Education, French, Spanish, or related field by appointment date is required. Native or near-native fluency in French or Spanish and English. Knowledge of proficiency-based language instruction and methodology is required. Specialization in Applied Linguistics preferred, with secondary field in second language acquisition or bilingualism. Preferred qualifications include the ability to observe teacher candidates in French and Spanish, design online courses at the upper division level for the state-wide E-Major, and willingness to advise undergraduate Foreign Language Education Majors.
