Performs the necessary leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design tasks related to the development of applications architecture. Position provides technical expertise in an existing or changing/emerging environment within the realm of architecture.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides a leadership role in organizing and conducting business strategy interviews and planning sessions with clients needing this level of service.
Understands, advocates, and augments the principles of business and IT and, more specifically, enterprise architecture (EA) strategies.
"Sells" the enterprise architecture process, its outcome, and ongoing results.
Designs and works with the team of architects to lead the implementation of an applications architecture based on business requirements and IT strategies and to rectify gaps and pain points within the current state.
Assists with designing the governance activities associated with ensuring applications architecture compliance.
Identifies the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures and culture) and financial impact of the applications architecture.
Provides technical leadership for application design and integration.
Provides technical evaluation in “build vs. buy” decisions.
Perpetuates the progress of application frameworks.
Develops the role of object librarian.
Researches and educates application developers on emerging and relevant development technology.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge required to perform at this level is generally acquired through completion of a college degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business.
Generally a minimum of 7 years experience in at least two IT disciplines in an application development and support environment.
Requires a minimum of 7 years experience as a leader in the Applications discipline.
Requires experience investigating and recommending new technology that aligns with business drivers.
Requires experience with audits, regulations, risk assessments, and best practices as it relates to new applications development technologies.
Requires SAP architecture experience.
Requires Microsoft architecture experience.
Requires strong conceptual, technical, oral, and written communications skills.
Requires ability to nurture, educate, lead, and train others.
Requires exposure to multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments.
Requires knowledge of all components within applications architecture.
Requires knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
Requires basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting.
Demonstrated ability to direct many phases of complex projects.
Demonstrates complete understanding of entire development process including specification, documentation, and quality assurance.
Demonstrates understanding of the political climate of the enterprise and how to navigate the political waters.
Demonstrates understanding of data integration architecture.
Ensures that application development methodologies and ITS standards and procedures are followed.
Requires ability to outline valid deliverables and execute to meet the communicated dates.
Requires ability to estimate the financial impact of technical architecture alternatives.
Requires ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
Requires knowledge of VISIO and Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and Project.
