Local company seeks experienced and knowledgeable paralegal to support a small but busy in-house legal department.
This position reports directly to and works very closely with the company’s chief counsel. The successful candidate will be motivated, independent, disciplined, and possessed of outstanding organizational abilities. This position requires the constant and vigilant exercise of exceptional judgment and legal instincts.
Primary job responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Creating and maintaining the company’s legal matter records

Drafting business correspondence
-
Reviewing and proofreading contracts and other legal documents
-
Discussing legal matters with chief counsel and business representatives
-
Legal research
-
Preparation of training documents to educate businesspeople on everyday legal issues

Gathering of relevant documents for response to discovery requests and subpoenas
-
Cooperation and coordination with other legal department staff
-
Interaction with outside counsel
-
Administrative support for chief counsel
Knowledge in the following substantive areas of law is helpful but not required, as we provide on-the-job training:

Commercial contracts

Intellectual property (copyrights and trademarks)

Commercial Litigation
-
Labor and Employment
-
Insurance and Risk Management
-
Consumer law

The ideal candidate will have ten or more years of relevant experience with a law firm, in-house legal department, or in other positions comprising related duties. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, or completion of a recognized paralegal studies program is strongly preferred, but not required. Relevant experience may substitute for the preferred education.
