The EMS coder is responsible for reviewing EMS records to verify accuracy. Applies ICD-9 codes to charts to be entered by EMS billing personnel. Selects appropriate billing level for ambulance call reports. Assist in training and educating new employees on QA topics. Ensures conformity to compliance standards relative to the review of EMS patient care documentation.

Qualifications: High School graduate or GED required. Certified Ambulance Coder through the National Academy of Ambulance Coding preferred. Two years of medical coding experience required. Ambulance coding experience preferred.
