Engineering Technician II
The Engineering Technician II supports engineers and a project as it progresses from design phase to installation including design, detail, CAD, establishing and maintaining CAD standards, generating material lists, tags, and testing the functionality of the signal system. This position is involved with troubleshooting issues during factory and field testing and during cutover.
Mental and Physical Requirements
Ability to maintain considerable levels of visual attention and mental concentration for significant periods of time.
Ability to solve minor issues and use established procedures to adapt changing conditions.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to manipulate necessary office equipment and computer software.
Ability to occasionally lift 2 to 15 pounds from floor to above shoulders.
Ability to frequently stand for 1-hour intervals on concrete, metal house floor, rail ties, ballast.
Ability to frequently reach 2 feet above shoulders, forward and lateral.
Ability to occasionally kneel and squat for 5 to 10 minute intervals.
Ability to occasionally grip, torque or recline for 5 to 10 minute intervals.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Creates CAD drawings.
Follows test procedures and documents results.
- Conducts all aspects of factory testing.
- Generates tags from circuits.
- Provides detailing of circuits.
- Checks tag lists.
- Answers questions concerning circuits from wiring personnel.
- Troubleshoots problems in electrical circuits.
- Detail checking.
- Follows ISO/Engineering procedures are followed for CAD and Design Control.
Performs factory and field testing.
Establishes and maintains CAD standards
Assists engineers with circuit design.
Creates and adjust Bill of Material.
Builds test simulators.
Site specific manuals.
Adjusts and tests AF and AC track circuits, crossing gates, switch machines and train stop machines.
Assists and provides input for labor estimates and schedules.
Draws or corrects CADD files of signal circuits.
Details tie-in circuits for existing locations.
Attends Company and industry-related meetings, as required.
Establishes individual goals which are aligned with the Company's business strategies and objectives.
Functions as a contributing member of the department's team and other teams, as assigned.
Assists the department in the accomplishment of the team's goals.

Educational Experience and Training
Two year certificate (college or technical school) electrical related.
CAD training and knowledge of CAD drawings.
Electrical, circuits and wiring knowledge or experience.
One year or more experience in a factory or field environment using electrical tools, measurements and wiring circuits.
Equipment and Tools
General office equipment including, but not limited to:
