The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) at the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitation Services assists individuals with disabilities to make informed choices that will maximize their employment through coordinated service delivery. In collaboration with the Workforce Network, we deliver quality workforce services to individuals with disabilities who want to work and employers seeking to hire them.

This position supervises office staff and provides clinical and technical assistance to entry and senior level counselors within the Wytheville DRS office. Provides comprehensive vocational rehabilitation services which result in employment to individuals with disabilities within established policies and procedures. Core case management services may include assessment and rehabilitation program planning, guidance and counseling, training, physical/mental restoration, career exploration and job placement. Caseload consists of school age youth with disabilities such as cognitive disorders, substance abuse, hearing impairments, or a combination.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of the social, economic, medical, vocational, and emotional issues impacting school age persons with disabilities. Experience interviewing, evaluating, and counseling individuals with disabilities. Knowledge of completing and following Memos of Understanding within the school environments as well as the impact the MOU presents in working within the school systems. Demonstrated knowledge of methods and tools for career counseling and exploration. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities. Demonstrated knowledge of ADA compliance requirements. Experience supervising or directing the work of others. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with customer's and the professional community. Demonstrated knowledge and experience using Windows based computer software.

Master's, Specialist, or Doctoral degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or current CRC credential or eligible to sit for the CRC required.

Preferred Qualifications

Considerable experience with conflict resolution, mediation, or facilitation preferred.
