Purpose of Position
Designed for college students who are pursuing a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or management information systems. MidAmerican Energy's goal is to expose the intern to a variety of projects and activities that occur within the energy services environment. The intent is to give students an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the work place. The position is temporary, nonexempt, part-time/hourly with total hours not to exceed 1000 per calendar year.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
Assist with preparation and review of budgets and business plans which includes budget templates, preparing 18 month data, budget entry, year-to-year analysis of dollars and people.
Compilation and preliminary review of monthly responsibility center budget expenditures which includes day one reports for preliminary IT and HR operation and expense.
Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports which includes data table assimilation and review, preliminary review of expenditures, data entry to summary tables, comparing actual to budgeted monthly expenditures.
Generate various ad hoc reports related to the management of IT financial resources. Provide specialized project reports, specific purchase details, and categorized detail summaries.
Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned including phone bill review and accounting assignment.

College student, sophomore or higher standing, currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in finance, accounting, business or management information systems.
Software skills needed to be used in extracting information from various sources.
Course experience in business administration, accounting or financial planning/budgeting required.
Strong analytical skills; with strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated data gathering, analysis, trending, forecasting and modeling skills.
Strong software skills in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with other software applications including e-mail, access and experience with SQL is a plus.
Effective oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
Ability to work within the organization with people who have different styles and backgrounds; ability to work as a member of a team and able to present alternatives and recommendations.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Exhibit strong initiative and self-motivated.
Must be able to work May through August 2013.
