At the full performance level, you will support Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSA) by providing a variety of administrative and office support services. If selected, you will receive formal and/or on-the-job training as needed.
Schedules appointments and conferences without prior approval and sees that the supervisor is fully briefed on the matters to be considered;
Receives and reads incoming correspondence and reports, screening those items which can be handled personally;
Actions taken include drafting replies to general inquiries not requiring a technical knowledge of the program;
Receives telephone calls and visitors, screening those which can be handled without help;
Composes a variety of written material. Such material varies in subject and format, but typically requires drafting appropriate correspondence that reflects the supervisors policies and special interests;
Makes travel arrangements for the supervisor. Secures accommodations and maintains contact while the supervisor is in a travel status; and
Produces a variety of written documents utilizing varied and advanced functions in one or more types of office automation software.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Travel Required: 2-3 times per year.
GS-6: To be eligible at the GS-6 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level.
Specialized experience is defined as experience performing various non-routine administrative assignments, e.g., preparing written responses to incoming mail based on knowledge of an organizations mission and knowledge of a supervisors views and priorities; furnishing requested information concerning pending and closed matters, functions and general procedures of the office; Producing a variety of written documents utilizing varied and advanced functions in one or more types of office automation software.
GS-7: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level.
Specialized experience is defined as experience advising and instructing staff concerning such matters as directives, reports, correspondence, and telephone procedures; Reading outgoing correspondence for procedural and grammatical accuracy; Producing a variety of written documents utilizing varied and advanced functions in one or more types of office automation software.
To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)
If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
