East Stroudsburg University is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Director of Service Learning and Volunteer Programs. This is a new full-time, SCUPA position reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs. The Director will provide leadership and administration of service learning and civic engagement programs and initiatives for the East Stroudsburg University community. The Director manages service learning and volunteer opportunities with the surrounding communities that will enhance ESU students’ understanding of, and their role in the global landscape. Responsibilities: Create campus-wide Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement. Direct, plan and implement sound operational plans to support the mission/objectives/goals in a manner consistent with the advancement of the University mission and strategic planning goals. Provide coordination and oversight for both academic service learning and volunteer opportunities for faculty, students and student organizations. Co-Chair Service-Learning Initiative Committee. Collaborate with university staff to identify service learning needs and related strategies for successful student service and volunteer placements. Serve as liaison between university faculty, students and agencies to facilitate enhanced engagement through volunteer and service opportunities. Establish partnerships with local and regional organizations to provide access to service and volunteer opportunities. Assess the learning and operational outcomes of all new and existing service learning and volunteer opportunities that occur outside of the university. In partnership with Academic Affairs, the Director will assist faculty with the incorporation of service learning initiatives into new and existing courses. Develop and coordinate annual service learning fair in partnership with Academic Colleges, Student Activities, and Career Development and Student Success. Develop policies and procedures to facilitate and appropriately manage service learning and volunteerism opportunities for students and student organizations. Serve on the Globalization and Service Strategic Planning Implementation Team. Participate in Provost’s Leadership Council meetings as scheduled. Participate in University Transition programs, e.g. Orientation, Freshman Year Experience, Senior Year Experience. Develop resources and promotional materials for campus and community organizations. Deliver presentations on and off campus to promote and increase Service Learning and volunteer collaboration between the University and surrounding community. Conduct comprehensive assessments and program reviews as required. Review and prepare operational budget and annual reports. Additional Responsibilities: Demonstrate a strong commitment to, and understanding of cultural competence. Identify and travel with student leaders to various specialty/leadership conferences planned throughout the academic year. Serve as an advocate for students within both the academic and social spheres of the campus. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, Vice President for Student Affairs & Associate Provost and Dean of the Graduate School.
Work Hours: Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm,37.5 hours weekly.
Annual salary: $48,489.00, plus excellent benefits. Final selection will be based upon a successful interview and background check. Official transcripts are required at time of appointment. All candidates must furnish proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. at the time of employment.Reimbursement for interview and relocation expenses are not available for this position.
Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling education, or closely related discipline. 5 years’ experience in the development and implementation of student experiential programs (i.e. internships, service learning, volunteer programs). Excellent communication, organizational, and public relations skills are required. In addition a demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships is required.The ability to interact with diverse groups is essential.
Marketing, and project management skills is highly desirable.
