Responsible for performing a variety of human resources functions. Performs Human Resources related duties at the professional level and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: Benefit administration, employment, HRIS system administration, training, employee relations, labor relations, employee events and employment equity programs. Ensures compliance with all legal and corporate guidelines.
Responsibilities will include employee relations, labor relations, and compensation responsibilities. Counsel employees on interpretations of company policy and collective bargaining agreement. Conduct investigations and recommend / administer corrective action / discipline consistent with company policy and company practices. Participate in annual pay planning activities. Administer collective bargaining agreement. Requires strong communication and organization skills in working with all levels of employees.
Provides general response to a variety of benefits inquiries (e.g., insurance plans, stock/thrift incentive plans, sick leave). Responsible for processing and monitoring disability claims for employees at the Marshall Site facility to ensure proper payment of salaried paid absence and hourly disability benefits.
Also responsible for Worker’s Compensation benefit processes. Investigates and reviews employee workers' compensation claim reports to determine liability. Investigates accident and/or safety occurrences. Reviews safety reports and statistics. Negotiates, prepares, evaluates, and settles cases with employee/claimant, attorney, insurance carriers, and providers to minimize claims settlements. May settle claims.
The successful candidate will typically have a Bachelor’s Degree and 6 years of related experience or a Master's Degree and 4 years of related experience.
Experience working in a heavy manufacturing and/or Union environment is a plus.
Candidate must have experience in either benefit administration, labor relations or compensation.
This position requires project management skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office computer software applications and strong communications skills.
Experience working with Ceridian is a plus.
