Perform structural design and stress analysis on aerospace mechanical hardware, including hydro-mechanical transmissions, generators, engine components and electronic enclosures. Individual must possess a working knowledge of textbook solutions and finite element analysis. Knowledge of vibration analysis, plasticity, contact, fatigue, and fracture mechanics is required. Individual must have the ability to select appropriate materials to meet design requirements.
Candidate should have strong interpersonal and computer skills with a willingness to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously. We are seeking an individual who is a team player with a high level of initiative and the ability to work in an environment of rapidly changing priorities and demanding schedules. Candidate must have a good understanding of mechanical/electronic principles.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Support and/or perform all activities necessary to produce technical data and final reports to complete the required work per Internal & External Customer requirements. Technical data and final reports must meet the requirements of Aerospace Commercial & Military Engineering Instructions. Perform the stress analyses of various parts. Preparing the ANSYS models from Solidworks 3D solid models. Developing the appropriate inputs and boundary conditions. Executing the analysis, interpretation of the results, review results with Internal & External Customers. Documentation of analysis in Customer specified format. Provide occasional support to the programs through Project Engineering tasks.
Software Requirements: ANSYS & Solidworks
5-10 years experience. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of aerospace machined components such as gears, shafts, housings and pumps rather than airframe structures.
BSME minimum, MS or PhD preferred, in Mechanical Engineering or Theoretical and Applied Mechanics with demonstrated proficiency in stress analysis and the use of the required analysis tools.
