Performs administrative program work of a moderate to considerable scope and diversity in assisting a manager/administrator carry out program responsibilities; performs related duties as required.
Perform Safety Officer role for ICIW. Conduct rounds to ensure safety compliance.
Serve as ICIW Grievance Officer to analyze complaints and allegations from offenders; determine the scope, timing and direction of an investigation by identifying the issues involved and the types of evidence needed to insure compliance with IDOC policies and offender rights. Gather and organize evidence and facts through fact-finding interviews with witnesses, offenders, staff, etc. Prepare and maintain records of grievance information.
Recruit and process all volunteer applications for activities/programs at ICIW. Coordinate volunteer activities for ICIW. Maintain contact with volunteers, schedule activities and classrooms, ensure volunteer orientation completed prior to scheduling. Receive new applications and ensure they are processed timely. Regularly assess ICIW volunteer needs with appropriate staff to ensure ICIW's needs are met. Ensure security staff aware of volunteer activities in a timely manner. Pass along any volunteer concerns/issues to supervisor in a timely manner. Ensure volunteer database accurate. Prepare monthly report. Prepare daily bulletin with updated information for offenders.
Serve as Chapel Liaison Coordinator. Maintain schedule of activities and authorize usage of the facility.
Investigate tort claims as needed and make recommendations regarding payment or non-payment of claims.
Back up to Offender Records. Review all incoming offender files for pending charges or detainers, make appropriate contacts, prepare and submit proper forms. Review and verify documents for additional sentencing, jail credit for time served and dead time on parole violations and pending release dates. Review sentencing orders for applicability of mandatory sentencing. Contact clerk of courts when discrepancies or lack of information occurs. Maintain security and confidentiality of offender files.
Member of ICIW Management Team; attend meetings as scheduled.
Other duties as assigned.
Graduation from an accredited college or university and experience equal to one year of full-time administrative or technical support work (e.g., determining budget, personnel and equipment needs; compiling/evaluating statistical, historical, economic, business, financial or technical program data; interpreting or securing compliance with laws, rules and regulations; reviewing operating records/reports and evaluating their effectiveness).

Working knowledge of OSHA standards and requirements. Knowledge of workers' compensation process.
