Job Summary

The Lead X-Ray /Cat scan Tech is responsible for training and guiding other X-Ray/Cat scan Techs in Radiology Associates. Makes daily work assignments. Trains new X-Ray/CT Techs and determines when they are competent enough to work alone. Teaches the basics of how to operate the X-ray/CT equipment (i.e. how to move table and monitors, where is the emergency release,etc.)Responsible for ordering supplies as needed. Troubleshoots equipment problems and places service calls as needed. Works with the Radiology Supervisor to review service reports and invoices. Responsible for conducting all daily quality control checks on the imaging and film developing equipment, and maintaining documentation of same. Works closely with the physicians and the Siemens/GE service technician to maintain and improve image quality. Checks all lead garments twice a year and maintains documentation of such.

Duties and Responsibilities

Works as X-Ray Tech: operates imaging equipment. Helps to set up room for next case including setting table and loading contrast.

Assists and trains other X-Ray/CT Techs; Teaches new X-ray/CT Techs to use imaging equipment.

Oversees Daily X-Ray/CT Related Operations: assigns work, ensures overtime and vacation coverage; troubleshoots equipment problems, orders supplies and follow-up with vendors on deliveries.

Conducts and documents all daily and other quality control for imaging and film developing equipment and lead garments.

Coordinates Service Imaging Equipment: works closely with Siemens service techs, places service calls as needed, arranges to close rooms as needed for repairs or preventative maintenance (p.m.), schedules p.m. and maintains documentation of all equipment problems and resolutions, liaison with Radiology Manager re: equipment problems.

Education: HS/GED required. ARRT accredited School of radiography certification.

Previous Experience: Previous X-ray/CT experience preferred
