MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: All Department/Unit Staff.

JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Nurse Manager is accountable for the effective delivery of competent, compassionate, and efficient care for a specific patient care unit on a 24-hour basis. This includes oversight for clinical operations and human resources, financial, and quality management. Reports to the Director of Nursing Services.

Education/Training: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required with clinical expertise in maternal-child nursing in an acute care setting. Masters Degree in Nursing or health-related field preferred. License/Certification: Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Washington. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire. National certification in specialty area preferred.

Experience: Five years of clinical experience required. A minimum of three years of first line management experience preferred.

Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to relate to patients, families, staff, physicians and other team members. Knowledge of ANA Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as the foundation for nursing practice. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Knowledge of Joint Commission, state, federal and local requirements and regulations related to area of assignment. Ability to perform physical and essential functions of the position.
