The Department of Residential Housing is seeking a responsible, qualified, motivated individual with broad based hardware and software knowledge to serve as a Student IT Specialist.
Specific duties may include performing software updates, troubleshooting error messages, installing new hardware devices, and all around technical support for professional staff in multiple locations throughout campus. Applicants will be involved in maintaining and updating computers primarily, but may also provide recommendations for hardware and software.
A successful applicant will act professionally, be able to work on problems individually and manage a fairly hectic schedule. Applicants must have a valid drivers license.
Performance reviews and salary adjustments to occur after each semester.
Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7, Mac OS X, university sponsored software packages, peripheral devices (such as printers, copiers, and iOS devices), and all aspects of hardware management.
Demonstrated knowledge in the following required:
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7 and Mac OSX
- Microsoft Office 2010 Suite
- Strong computer and printer troubleshooting skills
- Active directory and group policy management skills
- Basic Linux knowledge welcomed but not required.
The successful applicant should also possess strong communication skills, strong leadership and management characteristics, and the ability to convey technical problems in a non-technical manner.
Applicants must have a valid drivers license
Basic programming, web application, and web development skills are also highly desired, including html, css and php. Knowledge of MySQL databases also preferred.
Knowledge of programming languages (php and coldfusion) also welcomed.
Preferred applicant will be available for on the job training during the end of the spring semester and over the summer.
