  • Ensure the administration and processing of salaries in accordance with the annual Compensation Plan approved by the Board of Trustees - Manage the study, analysis, design, evaluation, implementation, administration, and communication of current compensation programs, policies, and procedures, and develop recommendations for improvement - Manage the job evaluation program including the job evaluation process, the development and maintenance of formal job grades and salary ranges, job analysis, and the preparation of written job descriptions - Manage the department's participation in salary surveys and the collection and analysis of survey data from other jurisdictions and published salary surveys to determine the competitiveness of the district's compensation program - Monitor the effectiveness of compensation programs, policies, guidelines, and procedures and recommend revision or new plans that are cost effective and consistent with compensation trends and district objectives - Manage the administration of direct compensation including the processing, recording, and reporting of compensation actions related to district employees - Direct and participate in the preparation and distribution of required reports - Develop techniques for compiling, preparing, and presenting compensation data - Oversee classification and compensation studies and the preparation of related reports - Prepare and maintain the departmental budget - Interpret and ensure compliance with a variety of state and federal compensation-related laws - Keep abreast of technical, legislative, and professional trends and developments affecting compensation, and disseminate this information to the appropriate personnel - Provide both administrative consultation and technical assistance to the department and the district - Oversee the dissemination of compensation information to employees and supervisors - Supervise the activities of the department in accordance with the district's policies and applicable laws; responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems - Perform all other task and duties as assigned
