Job Description

Engineering Manager - DAS Camera - (Driver Assist Systems)

Our client's advanced camera solutions provide safety systems such as Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Following Distance Indication (FDI), Lane Keeping assistance (LKAS) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW). These functions are realized with a forward-looking monocular camera mounted at the windshield in the region of the rear-view mirror. This position is responsible for the engineering development and management of Camera systems for commercial vehicles within the DAS Business Unit.

Primary Responsibilities:
Manage international project development team from initial kickoff through product manufacturing launch.

Define and co-ordinate the technical requirements with the customer for the planned development activities.

Establish and maintain a system requirement specification based on the quotation and upcoming changes.

Establish and maintain a project management plan for project initiation.

Define and maintain a technical project schedule.

Monitor and report the progress of the project to senior level management.

Develop technical presentations and present project status and development risks in front of the customer.

Responsible for development of new products and changes to existing products.

Ensure that discovered technical problems are identified, analyzed, managed and controlled to resolution.

Solicit involvement of key technical people who will be effected by a decision and encourage dialogue about outcomes and alternatives.

Drive the development and implementation of the camera technology against the strategic plan.

Think creatively to break old paradigms. Identify and implement new and better ways of doing business. Create an environment that rewards constant innovation.

Reinforce performance accountability within technical team.

Assess talent needed to achieve future business goals. Acquire outstanding talent for the company.

Interact effectively with all levels of the organization and with a wide variety of external contacts.

Mandatory Qualification:
Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Electronics/CE is required. A Master's Degree is preferred.

10 years of automotive industry experience

Automotive Industry Experience with Electronics required. Experience in the following areas is highly desirable: vision systems, digital image sensors, optical lens design, image processing software, radar modules, embedded module implementation of CAN.

Experience managing direct reports

8+ years of experience managing a technical team, preferably for automotive safety applications.

Experience working in a Tier 1 company with a Japanese customer is highly desirable.

Demonstrate a clear understanding of the engineering management role and the ability to make good decisions in complexity and uncertainty.

Experience in the following areas: digital and analog hardware design, WCA, PCB layout, compliance to EMC, DSPs and microprocessors, DV/PV testing, DFMEA, DFM, embedded software development, mechanical packaging, vehicle bus standards.

Adaptability to work in an international company on a project with teams in multiple countries.

Must be willing to travel moderately supporting internal and customer test trips.

Strong organizational/communication skill, ability to work within team environment
