The Scientist IV designs and executes non-routine experiments on the basis of literature analyses generally without supervision. This position requires extensive hands-on experience with one or more LC-MS/MS platforms for the identification and quantitation of peptides and proteins. The position requires processing of the LC-MS/MS data using sophisticated software tools, evaluation, and interpretation of the collected data. The individual would also be expected to prepare technical reports accurately describing the goals of the work, the experimental design, and the results, as well as provide conclusions and recommendations based on the data collected. The Scientist IV assumes departmental responsibility for discovery or development projects, if needed. The individual performs all work in conformance with applicable regulation. The individual also performs all work in a safe manner.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Initiates, designs, interprets accurately, troubleshoots and completes routine procedures independently and efficiently; initiates, designs, interprets accurately, troubleshoots and completes non-routine and difficult procedures generally without supervision; Initiates and conducts exploratory experiments
Proposes, gains support for and implements ideas from individual’s knowledge of science and technology and understanding of drug discovery process
Proposes, evaluates and implements new technologies; independently applies basic scientific principles, performs literature searches, attends scientific meetings, and keeps abreast of literature in own field
Effectively communicates and defends own work, orally and in writing, in the context of the company and team goals at meetings
Demonstrates a contemporary level of technical proficiency in field; trains technicians and junior level scientists in this field
Reports and treats data with a high level of integrity and ethics
Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies
Participate in cross departmental project teams when assigned
PhD with minimum of 2 years experience in a related scientific discipline, Master’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years experience in a related scientific discipline or Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of 10 years experience in a related field
Strong critical thinking, excellent communication and problem solving skills.
Ability to develop and follow research methodology and protocols.
Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Ability to design, organize, and coordinate scientific research projects.
Highly desirable experience includes the use of ABI Sciex triple quadropole mass spectrometers, MRM assay development, and HPLC method development.
LC-MS/MS instrument maintenance and troubleshooting experience required.
Demonstrated project management skills
Propose new experimental designs, Conduct probing experiments
Plan and conduct scientific/laboratory experiments and evaluate and interpret data
Provide training and guidance to laboratory personnel
Prepare technical reports, publications and oral presentations
Act as a leader in absence of supervisor
Appropriate level of understanding of applicable regulations
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
