Briefly describe the purpose of the job.
Perform laboratory registration process per corporate registration guidelines. Accurately order tests requested by clients into the laboratory computer systems. Accurately label patient samples and manually process samples as necessary (centrifuge, separate, aliquot), track specimens from ordering location to testing destination; resolve order issues once client service has clarified/corrected information.
Register patients via OneContact by collecting and documenting demographic and financial information. Appropriately activate, convert and discharge visits on OneContact. Register appropriately following the Corporate Registration process.
Maintain department corporate productivity standards
Scrutinize patient insurance(s) to determine the correct insurance plan and if the plan participates with a review organization, selecting appropriately from the OneContact and documenting correct insurance order, to support an accurate and timely billing cycle. Register complex insurance types (Worker’s Comp, Auto, Research, Other Payor, etc, according to procedures. Initiate and execute computer downtime for OneContact as appropriate. Notify management team of duplicate patient number creation.
Transcribe written physician orders into Laboratory Systems, communicating with client services as necessary to clarify orders. Triage necessary paperwork for the imaging process per department procedures
Resolve registration and test order problems once client services has obtained the necessary information from the clients.
Knowledge and competency in the customer service laboratory systems module.
Print barcode labels for imaging system; archive and retrieve samples for additional testing.
Requires: High school diploma.
Must be able to type 30wpm and Windows test,
have strong problem-solving, communication and computer skills.
One year experience in a patient registration environment
