Under the close direction of the Director of Outpatient Services the Scheduling Specialist ensures timely, accurate, and complete scheduling of outpatient procedures and patient visits. Creates a positive impression and maintains good customer principles for each patient, physician, physician office staff, technologist, nurses and staff member while scheduling all procedures. Coordinate surgical procedures, by pre-cert and authorization of procedures being scheduled. Maintain documents and follow the HIPPA guidelines for protecting patient privacy. Performs all duties in a manner, which promotes the team concept and reflects the goals, values, mission and philosophy of the hospital and HCA.
Experience: One (1) year of medical scheduling, direct experience in hospital scheduling and/or office coordination required
Administrative Skills: Excellent communication, telephone, customer relations and organizational skills, working knowledge of
insurance contracts and requirements, medical terminology required, ability to work in a fast paced environment, ability to perform telephone activities concurrent with computer activities.
Equipment/Machine Skills: Basic computer knowledge required.
Other Skills: Basic ICD9 and HCPC coding preferred.
