BACKGROUND POSITION INFORMATION

Position Title: Wastewater Operator “C”

Location: Perry Complex- Perry Plant

Department: Wastewater

Supervisors Title: Wastewater Manager

Normal Work Schedule Note:
The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the direction of management and, while generally as shown below, may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required.

Hours of Work: Generally 8 hours a day or as scheduled by management with one 30-minute lunch break. Overtime may be scheduled as needed and directed by

management.

Days of Work: Normally 5 days a week as scheduled by management. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays if needed and approved by management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The minimum Formal Education preferred to be considered for this position is (indicate level and years of education and, if a degree is required, the major):

Strong reading, writing, math, and analytical skills are required. A High School diploma or GED preferred.

Specialized or technical knowledge, credentials or licensing required for the position include:

Georgia Wastewater Operator’s License preferred but not required

The minimum number of Years and/or Months of Prior and Related experience preferred to be considered for this position is:

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The overall purpose of this position, i.e., what it accomplishes at Perdue and/or why it exists is:

The purpose of this position is to maintain operational function of wastewater systems. Maintain effluent compliance in accordance with the city of Perry’s industrial users permit. Perform repairs and maintenance as needed on wastewater equipment.

PRINCIPAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Describe below the four to six major responsibilities of this position, which must be fulfilled with or without reasonable accommodation in order to achieve the essential purpose of this position.

DECISION-MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES

Makes system adjustment according to Waste Water needs.

OTHER POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

This position spends 10 % of a normal workweek performing technical analyses and writing reports.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following:

The longest time in a single interval is < 1 hour with 1-3 repetitions per minute. The temperature exposure varies from < 32 degrees to >75 degrees. The dampness exposure is ambient, walking/standing surface is wet and greasy. Chemical exposure is chlorinated water, caustic detergent cleaners, and lubricating oils. Noise exposure is 90 - 94.9 DB, and lighting is 50-75 ft. candles. Tools used are knives, scissors, clippers, sharpening steel, shovel, mechanic hand tools, and hand scoops. Equipment that will be operated are a welder, cutting torch, grinder, industrial shop equipment, power jack, forklift, and truck/tractor. Personal protection equipment/devices needed are hearing protection, vision protection, rubber gloves, cotton gloves, hardhat, apron, lab coat, and face shield. The longest interval of time walking is >8 hours, 1-3 repetitions per minute, maximum distance is >100ft., and the walking surface is moist greasy, and rough. 2-4 hours is the longest interval of time standing, and mobility is walking. There is occasional sitting, position is variable. Bending is occasional, 4-6 repetitions per minute. The Maximum angle-forward is < 45 degrees, maximum angle-backward is < 2 degrees, and the maximum angle-side is >10 degrees. There is occasional twisting, 1-3 repetitions per minute, and the maximum angle from forward is < 30 degrees. 2-4 hours is the longest interval of time lifting, 1-3 repetitions per minute, maximum weight lifted is 40-60 lbs, and 1-3 repetitions per minute. The starting position height of lift is floor level, and the final position height of lift is 2’-3’. Extension reach during lift is 6”-12”, and the body position during lift is walking 10’-20’. There is occasional lifting, 1-3 repetitions per minute, and a forward distance of 0-6”. There is occasional grasping, 1-3 repetitions per minute using both hands. Objects grasped are hand tools, equipment handles, and the percentage of time interval grasping is < 25%.
