Reporting to the Director, College of Environment, the part-time Fellow will work with the Director of the College of the Environment, Wesleyan students and Middletown elementary school teachers to create a pilot radio program for elementary school students,grade(s) to be determined.

The pilot(s) will translate environmental science themes for young people.

The fellow will work with Wesleyan students to research the selected topic, and to write environmental materials for young people, teachers and parents.

The fellow and the students will create a website through the College Of Environment containing educational materials for students and for teachers/parents.

The fellow will coordinate, record and produce one or more pilot radio program(s).

Each program will be short; its length will be determined by meetings with local elementary school teachers.

This is a 39 week grant funded position with continuation contingent upon continued grant funding.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related field and at least 1 year direct or related experience (may include work or volunteer experience while a student).

Proven record of written materials for parents, educators or for children.

Proven experience editing and copy editing published works.

Demonstrated experience organizing and working with college students.

Demonstrated experience with sound production and recording.

Prior experience in the arts.

Prior experience in working with elementary school teachers.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven experience editing and copy editing published works.

Demonstrated experience organizing and working with college students.

Prior experience in working with elementary school teachers.

Prior experience in writing and performing original music.
