Project Description: Develop an electronic control unit (ECU) for active and passive safety actuators including: occupant restraints; brakes; active suspension; active steering; and active drivelines.
Main task: Overall responsibility to develop ECU software architecture and lead team of local and remote software engineers.
Lead the team in choosing the microcontroller(s) and software development toolset / partners.
Determine best path for project’s software development (e.g., in-house OS, OSEK, AutoSAR)
Select and direct remote parties contributing software to the project.
Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Science/Software Engineering
Minimum 10 years experience in automotive electronics / vehicle dynamics / safety systems software design and development
Minimum 2 years experience with model-based development tools / auto-code generation.
Demonstrated ability to develop complex real-time, embedded software architectures.
Demonstrated ability to lead and drive a team of local and remote software engineers.
Other valuable skills/background/qualifications:
Skilled driving on various high- and low-friction surfaces to gather data require for control algorithm development/calibration of the various actuators.
Vehicle modifications to accommodate fitting the various prototype actuators (brakes, suspension, drivelines, etc.) into a demonstration vehicle.
Closed-loop control algorithm design and simulation.
Rapid-prototype tools / tool chain
Model-based software design
Embedded controller circuit design, simulation, worst-case analysis
Inter-module communication/networks (CAN, FlexRay)
Mechanical design for electronic control units (housings, connectors, thermal analysis, vibration analysis, etc.)
System / Component Failure Mode Effects Analysis, Fault-Tree Analysis, or equivalent.
