The Opportunity:
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Application Engineer - Protection position to provide technical support to the southwest region of the U.S. from California. If you are looking for an opportunity to solve real world technical problems, train customers on SEL products and become recognized as an industry expert in a fast growing global company, then this position is for you! This position may be located in Northern or Southern California and will be supporting customers and providing technical assistance to customers throughout the southwest region of the US, with a primary focus on California. Occasional travel may be required to areas outside the southwest region, including the corporate office located in Pullman, Washington, and throughout the U.S. for teaching and conferences.
Application Engineer - Protection/Southwest Region

Responsibilities:
Provide power system engineering, protection, and troubleshooting expertise. Help customers apply SEL products through visits, demonstrations, training courses and telephone contact. Contribute to product specifications, application and testing software and literature. Participate in SEL marketing and sales activities and industry technical meetings and conferences. Maintain and improve knowledge of all SEL products. Teach in training schools for customers and SEL personnel. Follow and improve marketing, sales and engineering quality procedures.

Qualifications:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, from an accredited college or university Minimum 5 years experience in protection of electric power systems Excellent technical training, speaking and writing skills Minimum of 5 years experience with protective relay applications and industry practices Ability to travel up to 35% Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities Ability to work cooperatively in team environment Background check results satisfactory to SEL Negative drug test result(s)
