The Assistant Director of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity is responsible for participating, with the Director and the Associate Director in the planning, development, organization, and implementation of a comprehensive Human Resource and Equal Opportunity program. The functions include: recruitment and hiring; policy and program development; regulatory compliance and reporting; human resource information systems; discrimination complaint counseling, investigation, resolution and representation; position classification, compensation and management; implementation of employee evaluation systems; labor relations; employee relations programs; disability accommodation programs; fringe benefit and worker's compensation programs; workforce development and training; and community outreach.
1. Academic credentials and/or experience suitable to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Baccalaureate degree required; Masters degree preferred. 2. Demonstrable strong and effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to relate sensitively to persons of diverse backgrounds and levels of ability. 3. Demonstrable thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and culture of higher education, and considerable experience as an administrator in an institution of higher education. 4. Demonstrable experience in the creative development and administration of human resources, equal opportunity or related programs. 5. Demonstrable experience in managing human resources or a related function. 6. Knowledge of PC applications, particularly the M/S Office Suite. 7. Exposure to or experience with an administrative software conversion preferred. 8. Experience as a human resources administrator in a collective bargaining environment preferred.
