Position Objectives:
As a Systems Engineer you will be called upon to work closely with a variety of other teams, including Software Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers, Automation Engineers, Client-Side Engineers, as well as various non-IT individuals, teams, and departments. There will be ongoing opportunities to enjoy both the calmness of stable, repeatable processes and the exhilaration of frequent incremental enhancements and continuous improvement. Ideal Candidate:
4 or more years of recent experience in a Systems, Network, or Database Engineering role

Understands fundamentals of networking, including the OSI model, segmentation, routing, and common protocols and concepts

Has experience with PXE and system builds in a Linux environment

Knows how to set up, configure, and maintain Linux code repositories and package management utilities

Is familiar with setting up and configuring Java and LAMP stack components

Understands the setup and structure of Puppet, Cfengine, or similar, including the complexities and limitations of various hierarchical strategies

Is familiar with set up and configuration of log aggregation utilities, such as syslog-ng

Knows how to use version control software in a collaborative environment, including branching, tagging, and merging

Is familiar with code build, deployment, and Continuous Integration across numerous languages and platforms (Java, PHP, Objective C), including use of Ant, Hudson, and similar

Has experience with setting up, configuring, and maintaining virtual environments (Xen, VMware, VirtualBox, VirtualPC), from both a client and server perspective, including use of command-line/API

Knows how to set up, configure, and maintain hardware load balancers in an enterprise environment

Is familiar with setting up, configuring, and maintaining SAN/NAS devices (aggregates, volumes, snapshots, protocols, etc.)

Knows how to configure firewalls to define zones and policies to achieve proper filtering of traffic

Understands setup, configuration, and alerting associated with an enterprise monitoring application (Zabbix, Nagios, etc.)

Is familiar with IPS/IDS appliances, and how they are set up, configured, and managed

Has experience performing basic disaster recovery activities

Is familiar with network and application security concepts

Knows how to identify, assess, and mitigate a DoS attack

Understands basic database design, normalization, and query structure/performance principles

Is familiar with setting up and managing database replication (MySQL, Oracle, SQLServer)

Is familiar with the Linux Standard Base

Linux, Network, MySQL, or Oracle certification a plus
