Job Summary:
Morgan Lewis is seeking a Senior Employee Benefits Advisor to support the Employee Benefits practice group resident in Washington, DC. Our employee benefits team is comprised of over 80 lawyer and non-lawyer professionals who focus solely on employee benefit matters. This professional position presents an opportunity to work closely with our lawyers and clients on all matters relating to our clients' employee benefit plans and programs. This work includes reviewing statutory, regulatory and other governmental pronouncements to assess the impact on clients' employee benefit plans; preparing and amending employee benefit plans to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and to implement plan design changes; preparing and revising summary plan descriptions and other employee communications; advising clients on how to resolve compliance issues and other technical matters that arise in the day-to-day administration of their employee benefit plans and programs; assessing impact of corporate transactions (mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, etc.) on clients' employee benefit plans; preparing IRS determination letter requests and other governmental filings; and, conducting internal benefit compliance audits of client benefit plans, policies and practices.

Requirements:
Qualified candidates must possess an undergraduate degree and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a member of a benefits consulting team, client service team or a law firm team in the employee benefits practice area. Candidates will have significant experience working with defined benefit pension plans and will be conversant with qualification rules. A Certified Employee Benefits Specialist certification is preferred. In addition, the candidate should show a strong interest in career growth with the ability to perform independently in a deadline-driven environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills are also expected.
