POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the operations of the Maniilaq Health Center. Ensures hospital policies are developed and enforced. Responsible for the development and implementation of the Health Center’s long range plans. Consults with the President/CEO regarding the programmatic and financial affairs of the Health Center. Seeks favorable legislation for the delivery of quality health care. May perform duties of the President in his/her absence. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The capabilities normally equated with completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a pertinent field such as, but not limited to Health Care Administration, Public Health or Business Administration or equivalent experience plus five (5) years of health related work experience. A Master’s degree may substitute for two (2) years of additional work experience. Knowledge of various accrediting agency requirements such as the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation. Ability to interpret and implement these accreditation standards. Utilize participatory management style, advocate team concept with well-developed interpersonal skills. Strong communication skills (written and verbal) are essential; result oriented with the ability to balance health care and related business considerations. Frequent travel is required. Desirable qualifications include (1) knowledge of Public Law 93-638 and the I.H.S. (2) familiarity with operations of Alaska non-profit corporations and legal requirements.
