Minnesota School of Business seeks an individual interested in becoming a Librarian for the Richfield Campus. The Campus Librarian provides direction according to generally accepted standards for library operation, as appropriate for the mission of Globe Education Network.
Responsibilities may include:
Reference Services
Demonstrate knowledge of school collection and external resources.
Assist students and teachers in the use of the collection.
Provide access to information and ideas by assisting students and staff in identifying information resources and in interpreting and communicating intellectual content.
Library Instruction
Instruct students on a formal and informal basis in skills related to reading, research, production of materials, and the use of information and instructional technologies.
Cultivate life-long learning by fostering positive attitudes toward libraries and by working to develop students' critical thinking skills.
Collection Development
Continually evaluate the collections and programs in terms of the needs of the students and staff, and accepted standards of quality; collaborates with the appropriate faculty representatives and Network Librarian in making these determinations.
Collection Management
Supervise and maintains all ongoing and daily functions of the library.
Maintain complete and accurate records of all local library transactions.
Collect statistical data on the use of the collection and facility, and on the services delivered to the campus community, according to system-wide standards.
Perform routine maintenance on the collection: shelf-reading, weeding, inventory etc.
Training and Supervision
Train and supervise all library employees, in accordance with standards applicable to all libraries in the system.
Collaborative Activities
Participation in the chat reference services.
Contribute to the development of supporting materials for Library Instruction.
Committee participation as time permits.
Participate in library meetings and training sessions.
Campus Activities
Attend graduation each quarter
Participate in New Student Orientation and New Faculty Orientation
Attend Faculty meetings
Attend Faculty In-services
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Library Science required
Experience in reference, instruction, and computers in libraries preferred, as well as some experience in an educational setting
