This is an open position with FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp .

This Senior Nuclear Program Engineer will serve as the engineering subject matter expert with regards to In-Service Testing (IST), Snubbers, and Containment Leakage (Appendix J) related matters for FirstEnergy's nuclear Fleet organization. This position will be involved in industry working groups related to IST, Snubbers and Appendix J, including the ASME Code.

Responsibilities include:
Analyzing program test and inspection results in order to determine the causes of problems and to develop solutions.Designing and directing the testing and/or control of processes and procedures affiliated with IST, Snubbers and Appendix J.Evaluating technical specifications and economic factors related to process or product design objectives.Monitoring plant performance and evaluating IST, Snubber and Appendix J issues and activities.Resolving IST, Snubber, and Appendix J problems and issues through team efforts with a number of engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, chemical, electrical, civil and nuclear.Guiding technical staff engaged in addressing IST, Snubber and Appendix J project activities.Developing, analyzing, evaluating and monitoring plant HVAC issues and activities.Maintaining end-of-life documents and preventative maintenance reference materials and templates for large components such as Diesel Generators.Performing managerial functions such as preparing proposals and budgets, and writing reports.Planning and evaluating new projects, and consulting with other engineers and corporate executives as necessary.Supervising (infrequent) the work of technologists, technicians and other engineers.FirstEnergy proudly supports Affirmative Action. Bachelor's of Science degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university required.Minimum of 5 years of program engineering experience in the nuclear industry or 10 years of related engineering experience in a non-nuclear industry required.Prior experience with IST, Snubbers and Appendix J programs highly preferred.Having previously served as a program lead or owner preferred.Professional Engineer's (PE) license preferred.Hold or having previously held a Senior Reactor Operator's (SRO) license preferred.Experience with HVAC and large components such as Diesel Generators preferred.Experience in Preventative Maintenance (PM), templates and the creation of life-cycle management (LCM) or end-of-life documents preferred.Effective written and oral communication skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
