QUALITY CONTROL SUPERVISOR / TECHNICIAN:
PRIMARY JOB OBJECTIVE: Coordinate quality efforts in all operations to ensure the production, storage and shipment of only the safest, most consistent and highest quality goods by adhering to quality specifications and standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Shipping and Receiving Dock
2. Pouching Room 1 (3 shifts)
3. Panning Room (2 shifts)
4. Kitchen and Mogul 1 (3 shifts)

Shipping and Receiving Responsibilities:
The primary duties of the Quality Control Technician are to inspect the truck and take sample of every product that the company will receive. Make sure that certificate of analysis is provided by the supplier prior to releasing any product. Make sure FDA document has been released prior to releasing imported product.
Log the following: product name, item #, lot #, expiration/manufacturing date of all the incoming product and ingredients; trans fat nutritional label on the incoming film rolls and truck/trailer/container #, PO Number, take note of the Quantity received particularly with special cases. Be flexible toward other duties as assigned according to need.
Production (Pouching Room and Mogul) Responsibilities

The Quality Control Technician inspects the following:
1. Production material such as film, bulk product, and boxes to make sure that it is not out of specification. Any material or product that doesn't meet the specification will be reported to the Quality Control Manager, Production Supervisor, and to the Production Manager. Materials that are out of specification will be put on hold and we'll be reported through the use of our Material Complaint form and this will be reported to the Quality Assurance Manager. All product information will be recorded accordingly and reports will be submitted at the end of shift. Brix of any product will be recorded accordingly.

2. Before the start of each shift, the Quality Control Technician inspects the Metal detector to assure that it is working properly, and run the testers every 60 minutes using three metal testers Ferrous, Non-Ferrous, and Stainless Steel. Report will be submitted to the Quality Control Manager. Any defective metal detectors will be reported to the Production Supervisor and QC Manager. Immediate corrective action is required to be taken by following the Standard Operating Procedure.

3. Before the start of each shift, the Quality Control Technician inspects the weighing scale to ensure that all scales are working properly. Log sheet will be submitted at the end of shift. All pouches and cases will be inspected and weighed every half hour to ensure that proper code system is printed in every bag and case. Weight of every pouch must meet the specification. Materials that are out of specs must be put on hold and will be reported to the Quality Control Manager.

4. Before the start of each shift, the Quality Control Technician in the Mogul will inspect the following:
a. Visual inspection - Ensure that every employee is following the GMP. Any violators will be reported to the department supervisor.
b. Calibrate the instrument - refractometer and pH meter
c. Inspect the product in the cure room; check the brix of the product prior to releasing the product to starch extrusion.
d. Inspect the product in the storage tank and record the temperature and brix. Temperature and Brix must meet the specification.

e. Inspect the Buffer Tank and record the following:
i. Temperature
ii. Vacuum Pressure
iii. Pump Speed
iv. Brix
Any result that doesn't meet the specification must be reported to the Production Supervisor or Manager, Quality Control Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, so problem will be prevented.
f. Inspect the following items in the Mogul
i. Taste the flavor of the product (every half hour)
ii. Inspect the color visually
iii. Check and record the brix, temperature, pH level
iv. Inspect and record the Flavor and Color pump control
Any product that doesn't meet the standard will be identified and put on hold.
g. Inspect the Drier (1 & 2) and record the starch moisture every half and hour.

h. Visually inspect the Mogul Oil Pump and inspect the product every half an hour. Released the good product and put on hold the sub-standard product. Reports will be submitted at the end of shift.
i. Inspect the following items in the Panning room
i. Inspect the product visually
ii. Record the product information
iii. Check the Water Activity of the product (finished and raw ingredients)
iv. Inspect and record the code date and check and record the weight of the finished product every half an hour
v. Inspect the weighing scale
vi. For specific product, metal detector is needed in the panning room (Follow the SOP of the metal detector).

The Quality Control Supervisor/Technician does the following:
1. Files and updates
i. All the Product specifications and certificate of analysis in the laboratory from incoming product such as bulk, packaging material, flavors, colors, raw ingredient and many others, through the guidance of the Quality Control Manager.
ii. All the Quality Control reports of Packaging, Mogul, and Kitchen reports (3 shifts)
iii. Organizes and keeps the retain sample of production and any incoming product.
iv. Files the training document of all workers such as
a. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
b. Allergen
c. Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
d. General Safety

2. Execute training orientation of the following to all employees.
a. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
b. Allergen
c. Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
d. General Safety

3. Do QC Disposition of any returned product.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB:
  • Must be bi-lingual Spanish; ability to read and write English language;
  • Follow rules and regulations of the company such as the Good Manufacturing Procedure (GMP) as well as to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP). Previous job experience is preferable.
  • Ability to comprehend instructions, do the job responsibly in handling and taking sample of any incoming food products, ingredients etc., have a reasonable judgment in receiving all incoming food product, know when to reject contaminated product by ensuring to follow the standard operating procedure.
  • 1 to 5 years experience in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Bachelor degree preferred, Minimum of Associates degree in related science field
  • Strong interpersonal skills and respect for confidentiality.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
