The Pricing Analyst serves as a planning and tactical agent in merchandising by managing prices to align with category and corporate objectives. This person provides fact-based analysis, insight, and recommendations by synthesizing all research information for various product categories and geographies by using competitive analyses, analytical modeling, and leveraging tacit knowledge of merchants and category managers.


Job Functions

  • Form partnerships with merchandising staff to execute pricing work
  • Review existing pricing zones – rationalizing and executing new price zones
  • Enhance competitive/ market awareness in merchandising
  • Document process and workflow to ensure process is sustainable and transparent

Pricing Operations
  • Collect relevant information to enhance pricing decisions
− Develop competitor shop process

− Track competitor circular ads

− Manage relationship with third party data vendors (IRI/ Nielsen)
  • Maintain price management capabilities
− Play active role in deriving pricing rules for zones and product categories

− Manage pricing in Grocery, Frozen, and Dairy in accordance to business rules
  • Provide reporting
− Provide competitive position reporting regularly

− Partner with merchandising to make pricing intelligence data consumable and help users understand contents and application of data

  • Work close with Senior Analyst on ad hoc analysis to support merchandising leadership
  • Contribute to overall team goals by assisting where necessary in other cross functional initiatives

  • A minimum of 2 years experience at either a retailer or a consumer products company to include
− Advanced analytical skills necessary for formulation of research, process information, and data interpretation.

− Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

− Strong knowledge of Excel and Access

− Entrepreneurial spirit, self-confidence, and sound intuition

− Ability to learn quickly within a dynamic company and market place

− Experience managing a 3 rd party
  • Experience with 3 rd party syndicated data (IRI, NPD, Nielsen) a plus
  • Experience with Business Objects a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or Quantitative fields preferred
