Sales Engineer-5 Job Summary:
Directly supports Sales and Marketing to meet annual operating plan for new orders and profitability

Essential Functions:
  • Follow the direction of and complete assignments given by the department manager
  • Prepare quotes and proposals in response to customer requests
  • Review technical compliance of RF products and antenna sub systems
  • Contribute to writing technical documents and creating illustrations
  • Generate technical data sheets, block diagrams or specification control drawings
  • Track task progress and maintain estimates to completion
  • Have a fundamental understanding of RF and antenna sub system engineering
  • Have a general understanding of engineering development and manufacturing costs
  • Interact internally with engineering, manufacturing, and program managers
  • Interact externally with customers & vendors on technical and contractual issues
  • Manage customer programs using project management tools and techniques
Machines and Equipment Involved:
  • Networked PC workstation or Lap Top
  • Office copiers, scanners, printer
  • Software: MS Office Suite, JD Edwards, Engineering Design and Analysis Tools
Relationships and Contacts:
  • Ongoing professional contact with members of the Engineering, Manufacturing, other departments, and with company Management.
  • Contact with Customers and Vendors.
Accountability:
  • Work under the immediate direction of the Sr. Director, Business Development.
  • Properly use General Dynamics SATCOM facilities, equipment and supplies.
  • Protect General Dynamics SATCOM corporate proprietary documentation.
  • Use safe conduct and follow good housekeeping practices.
  • Respect other employees and their personal property.
  • Perform tasks in a timely manner.
  • Comply with General Dynamics SATCOM and departmental policies, standards, procedures and regulations.
  • Work during scheduled hours.
  • Maintain quality output while meeting department productivity requirements.
Experience and Education

  • Education: BS in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of applicable work experience
  • Experience in the electrical design, analysis, testing and verification of microwave components and antenna sub systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to expound product and company value to customers.
  • Ability to work with internal and external customers.
  • Competent communications, social and professional skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
