Posting Job Description
The Commercial Accountant will:
*Lead and manage the accounting for particular areas in the commercial organization (either with the field sales groups located in our regional offices or with the marketing teams located at our Corporate offices in Chicago) by providing exemplary customer-service while maintaining strict month-end timelines.
*Be primarily responsible for ensuring balance sheet and P&L accuracy for their assigned regions or brand teams.
*Demonstrate a solid grasp of basic IFRS and/or US GAAP accounting principles, particularly in the area of expense recognition and cost classification.
*Perform substantially all tasks related to closing financial periods for assigned regions or brands.
Accounting, Reporting & Internal Controls Expertise –
*Perform tasks related to financial close for the Commercial organization, including developing and posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, maintaining appropriate documentation and analyzing and validating results.
*Monitor and analyze commitments to suppliers as well as cost-sharing arrangements with customers to determine proper monthly expense recognition.
*Demonstrate basic understanding of internal control requirements and practices and apply this to areas of work.
*Summarize and report financial and non-financial data.
*Identify, investigate and explain variances in assets and liabilities from prior periods and expectations.
*Research and explain past and planned financial transactions.
Process & Systems Expertise-
*Adeptly use SAP financial and procurement modules.
*Analyze processes to identify opportunities for improvement or root causes of exceptions; recommend and implement solutions.
*Act as liaison with vendors on financial matters, where necessary.
Communication & Influence-
*Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
*Effectively communicate accounting and financial concepts and information to both finance and non-finance personnel.
*Relative 4-yr. accounting or finance degree
*2+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role
*2+ years of experience in a large-company environment
*Experience complying with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002
*Strong analytical ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve complex problems
*Knowledge of IFRS/US GAAP accounting principles
*SAP experience preferred
*CPA or CMA preferred
*Demonstrated commercial experience within the beverage or CPG industry preferred
*Time management skills are necessary to effectively work with multiple internal and external stakeholders
