The IPTV Senior Systems Technician will be responsible for Tier 1 support and systems monitoring for the IPTV department. This department maintains the IPVOD (Internet Protocol Video on Demand) content infrastructure for EchoStar. The department converts video content to a format suitable for STB’s (Set Top boxes), hosts this content on storage and streams to the STB when requested by a customer over the customer’s existing Broadband. This position will expose successful applicants to a wide variety of enterprise systems such as video trans-coders, IP switches, routers, firewalls, server farms, virtual environments, network attached storage and high speed wide area networks.

Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor the health of the network, storage and Servers using Solar winds Orion software.
Customer facing Tier 1 telephone contact for Content providers.
Generating trouble tickets when requested and escalating to tier II when necessary.
Following up with tier II and customers to confirm problems are fully rectified.
Basic trouble shooting of computer servers and network devices.
Basic installation of Operating systems and software applications.
Coaching of junior staff on IPTV systems and proper procedures.

This position is a shift position as this role requires 24/7 staffing.
Skills and Qualifications
At least 1 year supervisory experience or direct Tier 1 experience in a related field.
CCENT, A+, Network + or any Microsoft or Linux certification.
Must be computer literate and basic knowledge of computer networks.
Education to associate degree or equivalent computer industry experience.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret statistical data so trends can be recognized before they become a problem.
Ability to define and analyze problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to effectively communicate with customer and co-workers.
Successful applicants will be required to pass a Cisco CCENT exam within 1 year of accepting this position. Training material will be provided in the form of Books, Videos and access to a virtual Cisco training environment.
