The Lead Electrical Engineer – Drilling Systems will provide technical expertise and engineering to support the Power Conversion Services business. Service Engineering provides design engineering capability to support the commercial and field engineering teams on drilling and offshore systems. In addition to supporting the field teams, the candidate must work with the broader Power Conversion Global Technology and Engineering (GTE) team to upgrade customers to the latest technology.

Essential Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be located in North American and be part of the GTE Services Engineering organization in Power Conversion and will ensure that engineering and technical support is provided with accuracy, quality, and timeliness in order to meet customer needs and business goals. In this role, you will:
  • Support field service staff remotely on GE Power Conversion drilling system problems
  • Support customers remotely regarding drilling system problems
  • Retain links with the engineering teams working on current and future drilling systems
  • Provide support to engineering teams working on drilling system upgrade projects
  • Support the bidding process for drilling system upgrade prospects
  • Support execution of modification and upgrade engineering of drilling and offshore systems
  • Develop structured system upgrade packages to maximize engineering re-use
  • Identify new opportunities & drive development of effective offerings to improve in-service equipment reliability / availability
  • Technical support for new unit installation / startup and other outage work scopes

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Masters of Science in Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience within an engineering environment, including at least 2 years experience with offshore drilling systems Eligibility Requirements:
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations and vessels to support field service staff if the problem requires expert level investigation, as required (limited travel)
