UPMC St. Margaret is hiring a full-time Vice President, Operations.
This position is part of the Senior Management staff at UPMC St. Margaret and has administrative responsibility for physician recruitment and retention. The incumbent also carries out activities in the development, promotion and enhancement of relationships with physician groups and is a liaison to assure the identification and administration of management resources to meet the goals of UPMC. In addition, the incumbent has administrative responsibility for Operational areas that include: Radiology, Cardiology, Laboratory, Food and Nutrition, Community Relations, Medical Education, Family Health Centers, Classic Care Geriatric Program, and the Outpatient Center at Natrona.
Assures the development of goals and objectives for assigned areas/departments are in alignment with the mission, vision and values. Prepare, approve and monitor personnel, operating and capital budgets prepared by incumbent as well as department heads. Review and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of departments. Provide timely follow-up on patient/physician complaints; initiates change in processes/system to promote excellence in customer services. Exhibit strategic planning skills at executive management level. Oversee management of staffing patterns and skill mix in ancillary support areas. Effectively collaborates and communicates with all levels of the organization to facilitate the accomplishment of the organization's goals and objectives. Explore, develop, and implement physician enhancement programs in a way that is consistent with administrative policies. Administer a program of physician recruitment and retention to meet organizational objectives. Monitor progress against goals to assure their attainment or modification as needed. Provide administrative oversight of managers in assigned areas, including selection, training and development. Approve and monitor personnel, operating and capital budgets. Represent administration as needed on committees and task forces. Assure compliance with quality, regulatory and accreditation standards.
This position requires strong communication, organization and human relations skills. Maintain confidentiality of hospital and department information. Present self in a positive manner; promote hospital's image and maintains a positive and helpful attitude towards employees, physicians, visitors, and the community to enhance the hospital's reputation as a health care leader. Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned.
Masters degree in business, health care administration or related field and at least ten years of progressively responsible professional management experience in physician relations and/or physician practice management or hospital administration.
