SUMMARYPerform testing primarily in accordance with established laboratory policy and procedure. Primary responsibilities include performing analytical tests, assessing, interpreting and reporting results, maintaining accurate laboratory records and records of testing.
CREDENTIALSMust have BS and one or more credentials Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Technologist (MT), and/or Medical Laboratory Specialist (MLS) and have working knowledge of the Olympus Inmuno Assay Analyzer
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Troubleshoots any problems associated with test procedures or instrumentation. * Ensures that proper quality control measures are maintained. * Updates policies and procedures as needed. * Participates in Quality Assurance to provide quality laboratory services. * Performs all aspects of routine clinical laboratory testing, basic serological problem resolution. * Ensures the proper disposal of bio-hazardous waste generated by the Laboratory, including collection, packaging, labeling, handling, tracking and documentation in accordance with OSHA standards. * Ensures equipment functioning appropriately and materials and inventory is adequate. * Performs quality control on reagents. * Performs preventive maintenance, calibration and minor repair of laboratory instruments. * Organizes and restocks supplies. * Assists in quality control and other required tests to meet state certification and standards * Records all quality control and quality assurance activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed. * Enters data into the computer. * Maintains patient confidentiality. * Performs other duties as assigned * Responsible for the day to day operations and the quality of results. * Strives to optimize time management and work efficiency best practices
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS * Certificates, Licenses, Registration – Must be ASCP registered or equivalent as approved by the Medical Director. Valid and current State of Louisiana license as a Medical Technologist. * Education and/or experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Technology. Three years previous experience as a Technologist in a lab, as a Generalist. * Language Skills * (Ability to read, analyze, and interpret human service periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.) * Ability to demonstrate clear oral and written communication. * Reasoning Ability * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
