Job Summary:
This job is responsible for filling orders for pharmaceuticals under the immediate supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance MBO standards and regulatory requirements. Work includes (but is not limited to) activities such as: typing of prescription labels, filing, re-filing, bookkeeping, entering information into a computer system, pricing or determination of cost or charge, stocking, delivery, nonprofessional phone inquiries and documentation of third party reimbursements. An incumbent may prepackage and labels drugs for subsequent use in prescription dispensing operations and may, if assigned to an outpatient pharmacy, also count and pour for individual prescriptions.
Essential Duties:
Prepares labels and performs data entry for billing purposes; bills in a timely manner.
Routinely assists in maintaining cleanliness of all department work and storage areas, department conference room, intra-departmental break areas.
Requisitions, inventories and stocks shelves in both the pharmacy and IV room.
Inspects for medication outdates and proper storage within the pharmacy.
Delivers medications, solutions, supplies and equipment to appropriate areas in a timely manner.
Informs immediate supervisor of reportable situations and pharmacy needs, anticipating problems when possible.
Organizes and plans work well; manages time efficiently; demonstrates initiative and adaptability.
Performs related duties as required.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Any combination of experience and education that would demonstrate the capability to perform the work of the position.
Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
License/Certification:
Certifiable by the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Assistant .
