Provides clinical coordination of mental health/psychiatric services & direct psychiatric nursing services to youth within ODYS facility Mental Health/Specialty Units: functions as integral member of multi-disciplinary treatment team: plans, implements & evaluates nursing care for youth on assigned unit(s) on assigned shift: communicates youth's information (e.g. Individual Treatment Plan (ITP). therapeutic programs, interventions, etc) to nursing staff & youth specialists on all shifts; Observes & records patient’s behavior, condition & response to medication, treatments, education & therapeutic activities: intervenes in patient’s behavior; closely plans & directs the nursing care of secluded &/or restrained patients; writes unit records; trains & provides performs all general & psychiatric nursing & any related duties that coordinates patient’s health care; .administers medications as prescribed by a physician & documents patient's response or lack of response to medication regimen; observes youth for compliance to prescribed psychotropic medication & treatment & documents behavioral & physical changes in response to treatment; observes & reports possible side effects of psychotropic medications to Psychiatrist.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code; 12 mos. exp. in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in counseling; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations.

Major Worker Characteristics:
Knowledge of professional nursing procedures; psychiatric or developmentally disabled nursing; employee training & development*; state & federal regulations, policies & procedures as related to nursing; counseling; public relations. Skill in operation of medical equipment. Ability to deal with some abstract but mostly concrete variables; write meaningful, concise & accurate reports; demonstrate physical fitness.
